Western Airlines, also known as Western Air Express in its earlier years was founded in 1926 with a sole air mail route from Salt Lake City to Los Angeles. Western eventually grew to a fleet size of 78 aircraft serving 56 destinations primarily in the Western United States. In 1986 Western merged with Delta Airlines and was fully absorbed on April 1, 1987.
This 8″ x 10″ photo collection was donated by Vahan Skenderian who worked at Los Angeles World Airports and later at Western Airlines. They were scanned on a high resolution scanner. The High Resolution scans and originals are archived within the Flight Path Museum.
