Gen. Kevin P. Chilton (USAF-Ret.) of the Flight Path Museum Advisory Board will be featured speaker at the Day of Discovery, a community aviation and aerospace event, scheduled on Saturday, November 7, 2015, at Loyola Marymount University in Westchester.
This free event, presented by LMU and Los Angeles World Airports Community Relations, is open to the public and will feature an aviation and aerospace exposition from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and General Chilton’s presentation from 1 to 2 p.m. The general is a former Space Shuttle Endeavour pilot and Space Shuttle Atlantis commander. He also served as head of the U. S. Strategic Command. Chilton is a native of Westchester and a graduate of Visitation Elementary School and St. Bernard High School.
The Day of Discovery expo will feature information booths from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Aero Club of Southern California, Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles World Airports Community Relations, Flight Path Museum and Learning Center, Columbia Memorial Space Center, Women in Aviation, World Trade Week, Spartan College, Los Angeles Lakers and others. A buffet of heavy hors d’oeuvres also will featured.
Flight Path’s participation in the Day of Discovery highlights the museum’s ongoing commitment to aviation education, according to Nancy Niles, Flight Path president. “General Chilton shares this commitment as a key member of our advisory board,” said Niles. “We are extremely pleased that he will be participating in this community event.”
