FIELD TRIPS FOR GRADES 2 THROUGH 12
The Flight Path Museum LAX features model aircraft, photographs, airline uniforms and other memorabilia. Through our many windows that look out onto the runways students can watch aircraft take off and land. Students can also listen in on the communication between the air traffic controllers and aircraft. The Museum also offers a film about the history of Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA).
Guided tours of the Museum are available by appointment, the best times are Fridays between noon and 4pm, though other times may be available pending volunteer availability Tours last approximately 90 minutes. The number of students is strictly limited by fire department regulations. You will be quoted the maximum number for your group during the reservation process. Admission and parking are free.
There are several local parks as well as Dockweiler State Beach within minutes of the museum where students may enjoy a picnic lunch in the fresh air. At Dockweiler Beach students can also watch the aircraft flying overhead as they depart LAX.
